Casio Announces Ring Watch - A Tiny Timepiece Revolution
Casio has unveiled an innovative addition to their lineup just in time to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary: the CRW-001-1JR Ring Watch. The piece is set to launch in Japan this December at a price of approximately $128 (¥19,800).
The CRW-001-1JR is small, but packs a surprising amount of functionality. A six-segment LCD screen displays hours, minutes, and seconds, along with a date function and dual time zone capabilities. It features a stopwatch and an auto calendar. And there’s a small LED light added to the display, while a light-based alert flashes at each hour, or at set times. However, there’s no audible alarm, a detail traded for its compact form.
Casio ensures the ring is airtight, incorporating glass bonding technology for added resilience. The ring, offered in a fixed US size 10.5, includes two spacers for size adjustments down to sizes 19 and 16. While the recently announced Timex ring watch stretches to fit, the CRW-001-1JR stays true to its watch heritage with its firm build.
The battery powers the ring for up to two years. When replacement is needed, users can visit Casio service centers for assistance. While it doesn’t include health monitoring features like heart rate or oxygen level tracking, it serves its purpose as a stylish, functional timepiece.
At the moment the release is restricted to Japan, so time will tell if we’ll see an international release. You can access the Japanese release here.
