Sophie Powers Crashes Into Tokyo
Kicking Off Her Fashion Era

The Canadian-born musician and designer has been sketching clothing ideas since she was eight years old, but her recent collaboration with Gloomy Bear and ACDC RAG Harajuku marks her first official step into the fashion world.
Arriving in Japan to celebrate Gloomy Bear’s 25th anniversary, Sophie’s collection merges the brand’s signature chaotic-cute aesthetic with her own punk-infused style. The drop—released in three colorways—embodies a collision of Harajuku street fashion and nostalgic rebellion. To mark the occasion, Sophie hosted a rave alongside Subculture Party and Kyun Desu, bringing together Tokyo’s underground scene for a night of music, neon, and untamed energy.
Somewhere between the flashing strobes and distortion, she met Gloomy Bear’s creator, Mori Chack—a surreal moment for someone whose work is built on childhood dreams turned tangible. “Japan feels like my third home,” she admits, already planning her next return. “I can’t wait to create my own collection one day, but I’m lucky the ACDC RAG and Gloomy Bear teams gave me this first shot.”
To immortalize the drop, we took Sophie through the backstreets of Shibuya. This may be her first fashion collab, but it won’t be her last. Tokyo has a way of making introductions feel like origin stories.
